It’s Advent…already! I don’t know whether it’s because of our nice, long autumn, or the many difficult situations our world is facing right now, but Advent seems to have crept up on me this year. Last year at this time, we were in heavy lockdown in Manitoba, with no gatherings allowed and a number of restrictions for places like stores and restaurants. As a result, I made a semi-goofy video about making your own Advent wreath from items you may have around the house. This year, you’re probably able to head to the shop to buy some candles or even a wreath, but I am re-posting the video from last year, just in case you’re running a little behind (like me!) in the Advent planning.
What is new this year is our At Home Advent booklet. We’ve used the same format as last year, but updated it with readings from Year C and new prayers. We’ve also included a Christmas Eve candle lighting service, so this booklet will take you through Advent 1 (the Second Coming) to Christmas Eve, where we once again welcome Emmanuel, God-with-us.
Feel free to download and share our Advent booklet. May you and all your relations find new ways to encounter Jesus this Advent season. And may we always be watching and waiting… Lord Jesus, come soon!
