Introduction to the Old Testament
The stories from the Old Testament can seem confusing, strange, or downright ruthless! In order to better understand this influential collection of stories and teachings, we have to understand the world they describe. Introduction to the Old Testament offers a general overview of the time, place, and contents of the Hebrew Bible, known to many as the Old Testament. This course is a 12-week journey into the Hebrew Bible and the culture that produced it. Students will come to know and appreciate the Biblical story in context, as well as ‘translate’ the stories and teachings to their own cultural contexts
Christian Worship & Ethics
Thursdays 7:00-9:30 pm
The study of ethics looks at human behaviour and conduct. Worship describes what we do when we gather together to praise, thank, and learn from our Creator. Worship, the gathering and learning that Christians do together on a regular basis, should form an ethical worldview and teach followers of Jesus how to live in a good way. This 10 week course will explore the connection between Christian worship and ethical living. Together we will discuss how our worship should form us to pursue truth, justice, equality, respect, compassion, and generous living.
Courses will be taught by Rev. Dr. Kara Mandryk. Kara has a Master’s of Biblical Studies and a Doctorate in the area of Worship. She was a professor at Providence University College for 16 years, and is an ordained priest in the Anglican Church of Canada.
