Introduction to the New Testament
Tuesdays 6:00-8:30 pm
The story of Jesus as told in the New Testament is the foundation of our Christian faith and life. But sometimes these texts seem so far removed from our daily life! In order to better understand this influential collection of stories and teachings, we have to understand the world they describe. This course is a 12-week journey into the story of Jesus, the early Church and the culture that produced the New Testament. Students will come to know and appreciate the Biblical story in context, as well as ‘translate’ the stories and teachings to their own cultural contexts.
Christian Pastoral Care with the Reverend Matt Koovisk
Thursdays 7:00-9:00 pm
Father Matt (Rector, Tri-Valley Parish, Diocese of Brandon) joins us both in person and virtually as we learn together how best to care for members of our communities, as well as caring for ourselves. This course will also feature guest conversations with local ministers and elders. Students will be better equipped to care faithfully and sensitively for the needs of those in their families, parishes, and communities.
Courses will be taught or facilitated by Rev. Dr. Kara Mandryk. Kara has a Master’s of Biblical Studies and a Doctorate in the area of Worship. She was a professor at Providence University College for 16 years, and is an ordained priest in the Anglican Church of Canada.
